The Combined Defence Services (CDS) is a competitive examination held in India for recruitment to the Indian Armed Forces, specifically for the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. The exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) twice a year, and it serves as the gateway for those aiming to become officers in these prestigious Forces.

Selection Process:
- Written Exam Results: After the written exam, the results are announced, and those who have scored above the cutoff are called for the SSB interview.
- SSB Interview: Candidates are tested for their mental and physical suitability for a career in the armed forces.
- Final Merit List: Based on the combined performance in the written exam and the SSB interview, candidates are placed on the final merit list.
- Medical Examination: Candidates who clear the final merit list undergo a medical examination to ensure they meet the health standards set by the respective services.

How to check your Result
To check your CDS (Combined Defence Services) exam results on the UPSC website, follow these steps:
Steps to Check CDS Result:
- Visit the Official UPSC Website:
- Go to the official UPSC website: www.upsc.gov.in.
- Navigate to the “Examinations” Section:
- On the homepage, you’ll find a menu at the top. Click on the Examinations tab.
- Under this tab, you’ll find a sub-menu with a link labelled “Results”.
- Select the CDS Exam Result:
- Under the “Results” section, find the “Combined Defence Services (CDS) Examination” link.
- There will typically be a separate link for each exam result (e.g., CDS I result or CDS II result depending on when you took the exam).
- Download the Result:
- Click on the link for the relevant CDS exam result (e.g., CDS I 2024 result or CDS II 2024 result).
- The result is usually available as a PDF file, which you can download.
- The PDF will contain a list of successful candidates by roll number.
- Check the Shortlisted Candidates:
- Open the PDF file, and you will see a list of roll numbers of candidates who have cleared the exam. This list will be sorted in order of the roll numbers.
- If your roll number is listed, you’ve successfully passed the written exam and are eligible for the SSB (Services Selection Board) interview.
- Follow Further Instructions:
- The result PDF will also provide details regarding the next steps, such as how to proceed with the SSB interview or any further documentation you may need to submit.

- Indian Military Academy (IMA) – Dehradun (for IMA candidates)
- Indian Naval Academy (INA) – Ezhimala, Kerala (for INA candidates)
- Air Force Academy (AFA) – Hyderabad (for AFA candidates)
- Officers Training Academy (OTA) – Chennai (for OTA candidates)
