CDS Eligibility:
Know who can apply for CDS Exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Here we have detailed eligibility criteria like Age Limit, Educational Qualifications and Physical requirement.
Nationality:
A candidate must be unmarried and must either be:
(i) a Citizen of India, or
(ii) a subject of Nepal, or
(iii) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Age Limit:
(i) For IMA & INA: Only unmarried male candidates whose age is between 19 to 24 years are eligible.
(ii) For AFA: Candidates applying for the Air Force Academy (AFA), should be between 20 to 24 years. (Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable upto 26 yrs.) Candidates
(iii) For OTA (SSC Course for Men): Unmarried male candidates whose age is between 19 to 25 years are eligible.
(iv) For OTA (SSC Course for Women): Unmarried female women whose age is between 19 to 25 years, issueless widows who have not remarried and issueless divorcees who have not remarried are eligible.
Educational Qualification:
(i) For IMA and OTA: Candidate must have graduation degree from a recognised University or equivalent.
(ii) For INA: Candidate must have degree in Engineering from a recognised University/Institution.
(iii) For AFA: Candidate must have graduation degree from a recognised University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.
CDS Exam Pattern
The aspirants of CDS Exam must be detailed knowledge of Syllabus and Exam Pattern, even if they are preparing in any CDS coaching. CDS Exam is conducted in three shifts, and three subjects are covered: English, General Awareness, and Mathematics. Aspirants for Officers Training Academy must have to attempt only Papers 1 and 2, whereas candidates for the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), and Air Force Academy (AFA) should attempt all three papers – English, General Awareness and Mathematics.
