Airforce Selection Process
Indian Airforce selection process contains two phases – phase 1 is the online written test and phase 2 contains Physical Efficiency Test, Adaptibility Test and Medical Test. Below, we have mentioned all the details:
Phase 1:
Online Test: The first phase includes an online (CBT) test to check the basic knowledge of the aspirants. Aspirants who have applied for group X are judged in English, Science and Maths. Aspirants who have applied for group Y are judged in English, Reasoning and General Knowledge. To know the complete syllabus, marking scheme and eligibility criteria, click here.
Phase 2:
Physical Fitness Test: Candidates must possess a high level of physical fitness to be eligible for the Indian Air Force. To assess this requirement, a physical fitness test is administered, encompassing the following criteria.
- 1.6 Km running in 06 minutes 30 seconds.
- 10 Sit-ups in 1 minute
- 10 Push-ups in 1 minute
- 20 Squats in 1 minute
Adaptability Test: All individuals who successfully complete the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) will be required to take the Adaptability Test, an objective written examination designed to evaluate a candidate’s fitness for employment within the Indian Air Force (IAF). This assessment aims to determine the candidate’s capability to operate effectively in diverse geographic terrains, varying weather conditions, and different operational environments.
Medical Test: Once candidates successfully complete the PFT, they will need to go through a medical exam. The medical standards set by the IAF are quite rigorous, and candidates have to satisfy the vision, hearing, and overall health requirements established by the Air Force. This examination will involve assessments of general fitness, eyesight (whether they wear glasses or not), hearing, and overall physical condition.
