- Recently, Australia approved the world’s first vaccine to protect koalas from Chlamydia. The koala bear (Phascolarctos cinereus) is an arboreal herbivorous marsupial native to Australia. Koalas are asocial, meeting mainly during breeding, and spend most of their time in eucalyptus trees eating and sleeping.
- Researchers have discovered a new freshwater fish species named Garra nambashiensis in Manipur. The discovery was made in Taretlok, a tributary of the Chindwin River, near Nambashi Valley in Kamjong district. The fish belongs to the Labeonine family and is locally called Nutungnu.
- Recently, the Indian Navy received INS Androth, the second indigenously built Anti-Submarine Warfare–Shallow Watercraft (ASW-SWC). It is named after Androth Island in the Lakshadweep archipelago. INS Androth is the second of eight ASW-SWC ships built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata.
