- Dr. Étienne-Émile Baulieu died at the age of 98. He was the French scientist who developed the abortion pill RU-486 (mifepristone). During his work in the US, he collaborated with Dr. Gregory Pincus, pioneer of the birth control pill. Pincus encouraged Baulieu to study reproductive hormones.
- Aditya Birla Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla was presented the Global Leadership Award by the USISPF during its 8th Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C.
