- The World Health Organization (WHO) recently certified Kenya as having eliminated human African trypanosomiasis (HAT), or sleeping sickness. This parasitic disease, spread by infected tsetse fly bites, is endemic to sub-Saharan Africa and has two forms: Trypanosoma brucei gambiense, which is chronic and found in West and Central Africa (92% of cases), and Trypanosoma brucei rhodesiense, which is acute and found in East and Southern Africa (8% of cases). Rural communities that depend on farming, fishing, herding, or hunting are at higher risk. WHO has also validated the elimination of the gambiense form in Togo, Benin, Ivory Coast, Uganda, Equatorial Guinea, Ghana, Chad, Guinea, and now Kenya.
- Adani Defence & Aerospace has partnered with Prime Aero to acquire Indamer Technics Pvt Ltd (ITPL), an aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) company. This deal enhances their presence in the growing domestic aviation services market and will be executed through their joint venture, Horizon Aero Solutions Ltd.
